Editor’s Note: Rotji Joseph is the librarian for the Jenta Reads Community Library. The library was born out of a desire placed by God into the hearts of a team of young people to #ChangeTheNarrative of their community, to provide hope and education, but most importantly, to bring the saving light and love of Jesus to anyone and everyone. Rotji is a personal beneficiary of God’s plan for the Jenta Reads Community Library. He is one of the first fruits!
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life so why do we choose to live in darkness, why do we lie, why is our way different from Jesus’ way?
In my quest to know more about Jesus and to be free from my sins and burdens, I came across the above “Captivating Art” by a friend (Emmanuel Gilbert). I am a lover of art. This art above is so simple but speaks more about my life and that of Christians struggling hard to find the light and truth, and also of those that are still in the dark. This art shows the real burden of sinners and their struggles before going to the cross to drop their burdens and be freed. We Christians today are struggling and we find joy in sin and refuse to locate the cross to be free. Those sins deprive us from getting closer to God. The art portrays what we the Christians and the sinners need to do, we must bring our burdens to the cross because Jesus Christ was sent to die on the cross for us so that we can have eternal life. Which means that salvation has come to us if only we can give up the things of the world and come to him (Jesus) for some rest through the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for us.
2 Cor 3:17 says, “Now the lord is the spirit and where the spirit of the lord is there is freedom. John 8:36 says, “So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” The book of John talks more about how Jesus was send to fulfill the Scripture, to fulfill the will of his father and to die for we sinners and also to give us new and eternal life.
So why can’t we come to Him, the giver of life, and give up that heavy load of sins that is leading us to hell? We have to come to the cross with our heavy loads just as the Art portrayed “FREED” and live that Godly and Christian life. God wants us to live the life of love, the life of peace and the life of happiness.
Let me conclude with one of the powerful verse I have been reading since my childhood till date. John 3:16-17 says, “For God so love the world, that He gave his only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
