Louisa Vaughan and her assistants had arrived in a village to conduct revival services. Their host was inhospitable, and the place smelled of opium, so the group knelt in prayer to ask God what they should do. The revival band decided to leave, which angered their host. But when he randomly opened his Bible, he landed on Matthew 10:14 and realized that Miss Vaughan was shaking the dust from her feet. This broke the heart of the host and ignited a widespread revival.
When Jonathan Goforth visited a village alongside two Evangelists, they were not received warmly. They were mocked and the villagers wouldn't listen to them. Goforth opened Matthew 10:14-15 and read, “Whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.” This caused great fear amongst the people and caused a change in their attitude. They thereafter apologized and invited Goforth again!
Titus Coan and a group of Christians were in Puna to preach and there they met a people so stuck in their own ways and so uninterested in the gospel that they deprived God's servants of not just their hearts but even the food to eat. In protest the next day, Mr. Coan shook the dust of their land of his foot and departed. It wasn't long before God's judgement was visited upon the people there.
