42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Hudson Taylor found great freedom and lightness of heart once he obeyed the words of Jesus to give to him who asks. At first, out of fear for his own needs, he resisted giving. But once he obeyed, he said that “the joy all came back in full flood tide to my heart.”
When a nobleman who had been imprisoned for some crime, then banished to Siberia, asked for help, Dr. Baedeker provided him with money and clothes causing the grateful man to burst into a flood of tears.
Hudson Taylor was down to his last dime when he was invited to go pray for a sick woman. Arriving there, he found the woman and her family to be in such a poor condition, but all he had was his last dime. When the husband finally asks for his help, the scripture, "Give to him that asketh of thee" flashed across his mind and he obeyed; saving the woman's life and conquering self as a result.
Doctor loans patient $75 when the Holy Spirit reminded him of the command to give to the one who begs of you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you. Patient is led to Christ by another patient because he could afford to stay longer. (Several pages later, the man tells the doctor that the mere fact he would loan a stranger $75 convinced him of the reality of Christ.)
Henry Richards was challenged to obey Luke 6:30 and give to "every one that asketh thee." After much prayer and deliberation, he took Jesus at His word and experienced an unexpected result.
