God Using An Inner Voice To Communicate
Grace Jacob was doing her laundry when she suddenly felt God's presence and a need to urgently call Maggie. Hurriedly she sped off in obedience. Her call to Maggie at that very moment turned out to be crucial in saving the life of Maggie's son, Jeff.
I had just put a clothespin on the shoulder of a shirt, clipping it to the line, when I was startled by a supernatural presence right above me, and an urgency that I needed to call Maggie now! I left the shirt hanging by one clothespin and ran down the stairs. I didn’t know why I was supposed to call her and I had no idea how important this simple phone call would be.
“Maggie, how are you doing?” I asked in Cantonese.
Her voice was trembling. “Not well. I don’t know what to do. My son, Jeff, is real sick. I took him to the doctor, but the doctor didn’t think there was much wrong with him so he sent him home. But he’s real sick! I guess I just have to take care of him at home.”
“What’s wrong with him?” “He has a fever of 39 degrees (C) and his tongue and lips are very swollen. He also has a rash on a lot of his body.”
. . . .
“You need to get him to the hospital right away! I don’t care what the doctor said. Take him to the hospital!” I shouted into the phone in a panic.
. . . .
“. . . . You need to get Jeff to the hospital right away! Do you want me to come with you?” I wanted to make sure she actually took him.
“No, I’ll take him myself.” I could hear the fear in her voice.
Maggie didn’t call me for several days. When she did, she sounded exhausted. “Grace, you won’t believe this. You may have saved Jeff’s life by calling when you did and convincing me to take him to the hospital! That night, 11 doctors gathered around his bed trying to figure out what disease he has. Every hole in his body had turned black, his arteries were inflamed, and he had a fever. They had never seen anything like it. They finally figured out it was Kawasaki disease. It’s a strange disease kids can get. He’s only the third child ever in Hong Kong to get it, and the other two kids died!”
Jeff was ill for several months but he completely recovered.
God is so great—he had saved this little boy’s life through my phone call. But what if I hadn’t dropped everything and called Maggie the moment God told me to—would Jeff have lived?
