When an earthquake in 1934 wrecked two Mission Homes for Lepers in India, appeals were made of fellow leper homes throughout India. Joyfully they sacrificed some personal luxuries to help their afflicted countrymen.
In an old bank-turned-bookstore, a chance encounter led Mike Adkins, despite his own precarious financial condition, to give a struggling young woman ten dollars, this unsolicited gift turned out to be exactly what she needed.
When a lady he was with was surprised by Mr. Colson's show of love and compassion to a needy woman to whom he gave money, he simply said to her, "I never let my righthand know, what my lefthand doth."
Her personal needs and those of her kids notwithstanding, a poor mother of two was glad to part with the last fifty cents she had so she could support a neighbour in need. And as she gave away this sum, she was blessed to receive much more in return.
