Pray for all people, that they may come to Christ

Amy Carmichael had the habit of praying to God that the souls of unbelieving men may be won over to Him. Everytime before she visited Hirosi for example, she had a definite prayer for a definite amount of souls to be won and God was faithful to answer her!

Miss Frances Ridley Havergal's simple prayer that all the souls in a house she was visiting be given to her was answered by God. And it was at this same house she composed the timeless hymn, "Take my life and let it be; Consecrated, Lord, to Thee."

Mr. Ning, an intellectual was brought to the knowledge of Christ through the kindness he experienced from Mr. Stevenson. His conversion became an inspiration for many who heard the story including Mr. Hudson Taylor.

It took months but a mother's consistent prayers caught up with her worldly military son and he surrendered his life to the Lord.

A theological student took charge of a Bible class of young ladies, determined to seek the conversion of every member. Through personal conversations and special prayer for each student, he saw all but one member - Harriet J - converted. Twenty-seven years later, when the student was preaching in Brooklyn, a middle-aged woman approached him and revealed herself to be Harriet J-, and said she loved the Lord Jesus Christ, showing that the student's prayers had been answered even after all those years.

A man of Christian parentage gave in to the devil and abandoned his faith, but for twenty years, few of his Christian friends prayed for his conversion. Also, a group of Christian ladies, all strangers to him, prayed specifically for him until he quit drinking and gradually regained his faith, experiencing profound joy and peace in the Lord.

Two mothers met at a church service and decided to pray together for their daughters who had no hope in Christ. As they were yet praying, one of the daughters came to find her mother and announced that she had found Christ. They all rejoiced and gave thanks to God, and the other daughter was also converted the following day.

On the day Anne was baptized, George, her unbelieving husband was filled with rage and said many hurtful things to her. But Anne, full of faith, did not retaliate but instead asked that he be converted within a week. The very next day a great miracle happened.

While a Chinaman laboured to destroy the work of God in Taiwan by spreading falsehood about God's servants, Dr. Mackay and other believers continued to pray for their enemy's conversion. One day, their prayer was remarkably answered!

D.L. Moody shares the amazing story of a little crippled girl who, on her death bed, was distressed that she couldn't actively labour for God among the lost. Her pastor suggested that she write down the names of those she wished to see turning to God and pray for them earnestly. When a revival broke out in the village a few weeks later, 56 people were converted, and it was discovered that the faithful cripple's list of names matched the number of those who were saved.
