A backslidden medical practitioner attacked a Teacher for confronting him with the truth about his disturbance at a public meeting. The teacher did not attempt to retaliate. He later reflected that his calm demeanor was a fruit of the Holy Spirit indwelling in Him, for if it had happened some days before his acceptance of the Holy Spirit, he would have fought back.
The missionaries in Hsuchowfu were having difficulty with their High School students. When Jonathan Goforth arrived Hsuchowfu in the fall of 1915 for some meetings, the students vowed never to change. On the third day, a boy yielded to the Holy Spirit and confessed. That began a chain of confession that engulfed the whole school. Both boys and girls surrendered their lives to Christ. The students' lives were changed so much that they gave up tobacco, cigarettes, and stolen knives, pencils and handkerchiefs were restored to their owners.
A. B. Earle shared how a few words of kindness helped a man who had planned to commit suicide to change his mind. It was only a few insignificant words, but spoken gently, and the love in them cheered the sad heart! The man went on to meet Jesus and to live for Him.
Fellow Prisoners and prison officials were touched by Brother Yun's compassion and his enviable joyful countenance, so much so that he was elevated to be the cell leader and given better treatment. Brother Yun exhibited the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
A fierce Muslim man who had vowed to kill his own son for embracing Christianity, chanced upon the son—who had fled his home in fear—at a bazar. But after just a few days encounter with the Christians who were housing his son, the father had a remarkable change of mind.
